Let me ask you something, what if one day, you found out that the parents that you've been living in, is not your biological parents? What would you do? Would you leave your current set of parents, accept both sets, or would you choose to not give a sh** at all?
I have seen in movies, books, or even in real life that people actually leave their current set of parents and choose to search for their " Biological " parents even if they know nothing much about the parents they are searching for. I always find that rather retarded.
If i found out that i am not the real son of my current set of parents, what would i do? Well, I would search for my biological parents, but I wouldn't leave my current set of parents. They have taken care of me for 15 years man, 15 years. How can i just leave them just because they are not my "real" parents? Don't you agree?
I think the reason why some people would want to naturally choose their Biological over non biological parents is because of labels and status. They think that the set of biological parents is where they SHOULD live with OFFICALLY. But why would you leave a set of parents that have taken care of you even if you are not theirs OFFICIALLY? Sometimes you shouldn't be too realistic.
If your biological parents do not appreciate you, do not love you, do not wish to regard you as their child, while your non biological parents love you, appreciate you, take you as their own, which set would YOU choose?
I have a friend who is living with her non biological parents here in Singapore while her biological parents are in Australia. She is living normally and happily here.
Be it biological or non biological parents, it really doesn't matter. A family is not defined by whether they are really yours or not, what matters is that the family gives you warmth and support, and when you are home, you feel welcomed :)
